Your election officials have done their very best to conduct an officer election according to the requirements of your constitution, bylaws, and federal law.

Despite all of their efforts, one of your members has filed an election protest.

Determine if the complainant was a member in good standing when the challenge was filed.
Determine if the complainant followed the procedures established in your constitution and bylaws.
Determine if the complainant is eligible to file a complaint with DOL.
Identify all of the issues contained in the member’s initial protest and subsequent appeals.
Interview the complainant, principal officer(s), election committee chair and other parties with relevant information.
Conduct a cursory review of election records.
Document our investigative findings, and explain how DOL is likely to interpret them.
Recommend any necessary additional investigation.
